Technology Is A Tool For Aid For Learning And Education

I would like to make one point very clear in the beginning and that is; technology is a tool to aid in learning and education. There is a realization that the current educational system is falling behind in the modern world. With today’s technology-driven and interconnected world, a learning environment can be online, remote, virtual; in other words, it doesn’t really have to be a place at all. Maybe a better way of thinking is that, a 21st century learning environment is a support system in which humans learn best. Since we can’t predict how technologies and education will evolve, the environment must be flexible. So, are we ready for this technology and will using technology improve education as we know it? How teachers interact with students and students interact with each another may be considered a learning environment. The learning environment has typically focused on spaces and places. A quality learning environment is seen as rooms with large LCD monitors and Ethernet but, this may not be a 21st century learning environment at all. There are endless possibilities for a learning environment; this is the one thing that made teaching so much fun and interesting to say the least. An effective learning environment has no limits it’s a support system that we learn in, the best. It can be uniquely designed for each student’s learning needs. Learning environments today need to embrace a variety of ideas, places and even people. There needs to be flexibility of people, spaces, time and technology. Students maybe tackling community problems through internships or service work, using social networking tools to gather and share data with their peers, acquiring meaningful knowledge and taking responsibility for their learning. This all creates an atmosphere for learning. Technology can be the seamless support system that blends physical and digital learning.
